Every list you will see regarding the worst World Champions in WWE history, one name will always be there, and that is Jack Swagger, who is presently known as Jake Hager. The least will also include the life of The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal, and Vince McMahon, who will probably be considered the worst champion of them all. But no list will be complete without Swagger.

2010 is often considered one of the Wars years in WWE history despite it having some exciting things like the invasion of the Nexus and the long awaited World Heavyweight Championship run of Kane. But there are some terrible decisions that Vince McMahon made this year, and one of them was crowning Jack Swagger as the World Heavyweight Champion.

He was not a bad ending worker, unlike The Great Khali, but he was nowhere near main event material. Vince McMahon overestimated him, and he could never live up to the hype that was created around him. He was introduced among the WWE main roster audience back in 2008, and from the very first day, Vince McMahon wanted to push him to the top star.

At WrestleMania 26, he went on to win the Money in the Bank ladder match, and soon he cashed it in on Chris Jericho in an episode of SmackDown to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Swagger recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet on the “Insight” podcast, where he remembered his World Heavyweight Championship run. Here is what he had to say;

“I mean, I’m on a list, a very elite list, of World Heavyweight Champions. I don’t really care what people think. Hindsight is 20/20. I got into this for me, I’m glad you guys like me, I don’t care if you hate me. I’m not gonna sacrifice my happiness to worry about that stuff, especially in this day and age with social media. It is what it is. I’m a World Heavyweight Champion, whether you like it or not.”

Soon after Swagger won the World Heavyweight Championship, Vince McMahon understood that it was not working, and ultimately, he took the title away from him. He was also demoted to the Tag Team division, and as long as he was active in the promotion, he was never promoted to the main event status again. He will always be remembered as one of the worst World Champions in WWE history.
