Iyo Sky has been working as a professional wrestler since 2007, and without any doubt, she is one of the biggest names in women's wrestling today. She spent most of her early career in Japan, working primarily for the leading Japanese professional wrestling promotion, Stardom, where she became a hugely successful name.
Iyo Sky has been working in WWE since 2018, and she is currently one of the biggest attractions of the promotion. Ever since she joined WWE, she has been promoted as a top star of the promotion. She was a big attraction when she was working in the NXT under the ring name Io Shirai, she is also a big attraction on the main roster.

Iyo Sky wanted to quit after her first wrestling match
She may have been a successful name in the wrestling world right now, but her early beginnings were not very fruitful. Sky recently remembered her debut match, and she was so embarrassed with her performance that she wanted to quit right after it. Sleaking on the "INSIGHT" podcast of Chris Van Vliet, she explained the following;
Iyo Sky has been active in the wrestling world for more than 18 years
“I feel like I was just so embarrassed because my debut match was so bad, and maybe the audience was only 30 people. But I felt so embarrassed. So I thought I want to quit, but actually I was so frustrated as well. So maybe I have to become stronger.”

Sky is presently active in WWE and she is one of the biggest stars of the promotion
“I have to get better to change their mind, because 30 people think Io Shirai is a bad wrestler. I want to change something like that, to become Io Shirai, is not a bad wrestler. So that’s why I want to quit but I should keep until they are thinking, Io Shirai is no bad wrestler, and they just keep going, keep going, keep going. Then three years later, I became full enough to wrestle.”
Iyo Sky joined the main roster in 2022, and she won her first World Championship in the main roster in 2023. She defended the world championship in back to back two WrestleMania events, and presently she stands as a two times WWE World Champion. She may have had a terrible beginning, but presently she stands as one of the biggest prospects of WWE.
