No reasons had been given, and the fans were really confused why such a consideration was being made, especially things he had been one of the top stars of WWE and also a big merchandise seller.
The rumor started to spread when he began a new storyline with the former two times WWE United States Champion, LA Knight. It all started at the Clash in Paris event when WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins defended the Championship in a fatal 4 way match where both Knight and Jey were involved.

A rivalry between the two started from this match, despite both of them failing to win this match, and Seth Rollins managed to retain the title. On the very week of Monday Night RAW, Jey ended up attacking LA Knight at the end of the show, making it clear that he has no soft corner for the former US Champion.
Jey Uso will potentially start a new rivalry with Cody Rhodes
On next week's RAW, Knight returned the favor by attacking Jey Uso despite Jey wanting to bury the hatchet. In a later week, Knight got attacked by Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, but Jey cared less about it and left without helping him. Jimmy Uso, on the other hand, is trying to make peace between the two.
He is presently having a feud with LA Knight
It is pretty much confirmed that one of these two wrestlers is definitely turning heel. And presently, it looks like Jey will be the one to be a villain. But he is not going to turn a heel just to have a random storyline with LA Knight. WWE may be planning something big for him when he turns heel.
According to the latest rumours, Jey Uso will be turned heel so that he can feud with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The American Nightmare is running out of major opponents, and they need a new name who can keep him engaged. Jey is potentially going to be the one to be the next in the queue to feud with Cody Rhodes.
