One of the most iconic things about WWE until 2014 had been the undefeated streak of the Undertaker at WrestleMania, which remained intact for over 2 decades. WWE was a huge thing after the 2000s when they actually started to count his WrestleMania victories. He even showed ten counts using his fingers after defeating Ric Flair at WrestleMania X8.

But the undefeated streak of the Undertaker finally ended at WrestleMania XXX at the hands of Brock Lesnar. This match is still considered to have the most shocking and unpredictable outcome in the history of professional wrestling. Literally, nobody expected the streak would end that night at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

The Undertaker

The Undertaker did not want to end his WrestleMania streak at WrestleMania XXX

The Undertaker recently revealed that it was not his decision to end the streak, and he never wanted his streak to be broken. Recently, he confirmed it multiple time,s and once again on his “Six Feet Under” podcast, he talked about the end of his iconic WrestleMania undefeated streak. The following is what he said recently;

The Undertaker never wanted his streak to be broken

“I mean, 21 – 0 may last forever, but I think the general consensus? Nobody wanted it. I think it would have been just the lore, the legend, and lore of that would have been — it would have been really cool for wrestling. But it wasn’t my decision. And people ask me all the time, ‘Well, why did you do it?’

"You know? Like well, I didn’t really have a choice. Yeah, I guess I did have a choice, I didn’t have to do it. And then what happens? And then me and Brock are having to shoot at WrestleMania, and then it’s gonna, you know, it wouldn’t have been good.”

He retired from in ring action back in 2020 after his last match at WrestleMania 36

“But you know, you have to look at this business in a sense of, there’s a lot of people that maybe didn’t want to put me over to get me into that position. And they did it, and it’s just kind of the way it works. Wasn’t my decision. I had to make the best of the hand that was dealt me.”

Previously, there had been a myth that Taker always wanted his streak to be ended by someone who deserved it. Names like Mark Henry and Edge had been proposed to beat it. Even Taker was ready to sacrifice his streak for these wrestlers. But recently he made it clear that he never wanted his streak to be ended. So what we have heard so far may not be completely right.
