John Cena is now fully focused on his acting career, and he is sacrificing his professional wrestling career to establish his acting career properly. He already announced that he will retire by the end of this year, and after that, his full focus will be on Hollywood. Presently, he is doing his retirement tour in WWE.
He has already entered the DC Universe as he has played the role of the Peacemaker in multiple DC movies. But he is yet to make a breakthrough in the Marvel Universe. Recently he appeared at ‘Fan Expo Boston,’ where he revealed that not only does he miss roles in the Marvel Universe, but also in The Terminator and the Duke Nukem series. He said;

John Cena missed the chance to make a breakthrough in the Marvel Universe
“That’s the tough thing about film. You can’t get too excited until rubber hits the road. There’s been a ton of stuff. There’s a Duke Nukem thing for a while that was supposed to be going on. There was talk of me possibly going into the Terminator universe, there was talk of me in the Marvel Universe, there was talk of me for Shazam! You wanna give your all to something but you also have to hedge your enthusiasm. Man, we all get frustrated in life, right?
John Cena is presently having his retirement tour in WWE
"Think of the last time you were frustrated and think of the why. It’s always because we have expectations in our head and those expectations get moved, or they don’t get met. When it comes to filmography, you gotta be easy on what you expect, because nothing is guaranteed, and then when rubber hits road and they say, ‘We’re making this,’ you gotta go hard, and you gotta invest, or you won’t get another chance. So, there have been things that I wanted to work out but never anything that I’m fully invested in until it’s real.”

Cena played the character of the Peacemaker in the DC Universe
John Cena first appeared in a movie back in 2006, and the movie was called The Marine. The movie was produced by WWE Films production house, and it performed average at the box office. In 2017, he made the ultimate breakthrough in Hollywood as he signed multiple projects.
He stopped working in WWE regularly after 2017 as he focused more on his Hollywood career. But he kept on returning to WWE for part time matches, and this time he mostly focused on promoting younger talents. Throughout 2025, he is having his retirement tour and he had an amazing time in his final year. But ultimately, he will stop wrestling by the end of this year.
