WWE went through a difficult time period during the 2010s, and John Cena played a vital role in keeping the promotion the biggest attraction in the whole world. Former World Champion Natalya recently talked about the contributions of Cena in saving WWE during the difficult time. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, he said the following;

“And that’s the thing — sometimes there are circumstances or situations that happen in life or in organizations. I mean, look at the pandemic. COVID shut down so many places, and sometimes there are life-altering moments that happen beyond our control.”
“When you have to pivot in a huge way with a global crisis or a crisis like, you know — there again, I won’t get into it because I don’t want to get controversial on a fun radio show with us — but it was a very traumatic time in the industry. There was a lot of craziness that happened with one of WWE’s own stars, and the company needed to pivot. They did that with the quarterback of John Cena.”

Cena will retire from wrestling at the end of this year
Cena is presently going through his retirement tour in WWE, and after this year, he will never be seen working in the ring. He will wrestle his final match at the Saturday Night's Main Event show on December 13. His final opponent has not been revealed yet, but Gunther is reportedly being discussed to get the honor.
