Gunther is indeed one of the biggest names in WWE right now, and he can also be considered a future megastar. He has achieved a lot of success ever since joining WWE. He first impressed the fans with his amazing in ring skills in the NXT UK, as he had been the longest reigning NXT UK Champion.
Gunther made a huge statement after joining the main roster in 2022. He went on to become the longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion as he broke the record previously set by The Honky Tonk Man around 35 years ago. After dropping the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39, he moved on to work for the WWE World Championship.
Gunther claims he never chased WWE
He won the King of the Ring tournament in 2024 and also won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam of the same year. As of now, he is a two times World Heavyweight Champion. But recently, he made a shocking statement that he never chased WWE. Speaking with The Undertaker on his "Six Feet Under" podcast, he explained the following;

“I never, might sound a bit arrogant, but I never chased this place. I never chased WWE, it was never my, ‘I got to work out because I want to get there,’ right? My only focus is on that’s what I want to be, and try to be as good as possible at that.” He continued, “And kind of like, stuck to that. And for a long time, I didn’t see myself succeed here. But I feel like it really helped me that, yeah, I didn’t chase it, and when I was here, I was just myself, and that’s what they wanted.”
He is the longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion
“The competition started off like, ‘Oh, I’ve seen that clip in PWG. They all do that. I should do that too.’ And it was like, How can I do more? And how can I get, how can I squeeze as much as possible in my match? So sell shirts afterwards and stuff like that.” Said the former two times World Heavyweight Champion
Gunther has been out of action with multiple injuries since early August, and there is no confirmation on when he is coming back to action. But as soon as he returns to action, we can expect him to continue dude for the WWE World Championship again. Indeed, he is one of the biggest stars of the promotion right now.
