How Gunther felt after ending the career of John Cena

As a result, The Ring General is presently receiving immense hatred from the fans, and WWE even had to give him security when he was leaving the arena after he ended the career of John Cena. The former World Champion recently revealed how he felt backstage after ending Cena's career. Speaking on “The Masked Man Show,” he revealed the following;

Gunther defeated John Cena in his farewell match on December 13

“And I just catch myself in the middle of it being the guy that — yeah, I didn’t like John Cena, I hated the guy in jorts. It was the time where — I don’t know, it was a black hole of me. I didn’t watch WWE for a very long time. I was not interested in it. John Cena [was] always like representative of that for me.

Cena tapped out in this match for the first time in 21 years

“And I just catch myself in the middle of that, and everybody being so invested. And I’m a little bit — feeling-wise, I feel like I’m a little bit above it because I’m not as invested. And yeah, it was definitely very interesting then [that I] end up to be the guy that actually takes it away at the end and causes a bunch of drama."

After seeing the reaction Gunther received following his victory over John Cena, WWE decided to put him over as the biggest heel of the promotion. Once again, he disrespected Cena on the following week of RAW, which earned him more hatred from the fans. He is presently rumoured to challenge Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. No doubt he is one of the biggest prospects of WWE.
