Gunther will definitely get a lot of hatred for retiring one of the most famous names in the history of professional wrestling, and that is exactly what the officials wanted; they want him to be the most hated heel of the industry, and this victory will surely help him a lot to establish himself as the biggest heel in the professional wrestling world today.

Gunther does not want to be considered a sports entertainer
In one single year, The Ring General of WWE got the privilege of retiring as one of the biggest names in the world of wrestling, before John Cena, he retired Goldberg in the same event previously. But it is pretty much true that Cena's retirement was much more emotional, and The Ring General played a vital role in making it even more emotional.
Gunther wants to be addressed as a professional wrestler
Before the match, he discussed his perspective in the world of professional wrestling, where he claimed that he does not want to be portrayed as a sports entertainer, but he wants to consider himself a professional wrestler. He spoke with PEOPLE recently, where he stated the following;
“I don’t consider myself a sports entertainer. I consider myself a professional wrestler. Maybe that’s where the distinction is in this whole thing. It’s undeniable: He’s the greatest of all time. He’s the greatest sports entertainer of all time. And that’s how I always saw myself as different.”

“Obviously it’s a big deal and I am proud to be in that situation. I came up in Europe and took a different route to WWE than everybody else and I represent a little bit of the new wave of wrestlers to have come into WWE recently.
“I guess if you compare it like that, it really is a passing of the torch match because it’s two different styles and two completely different generations. It makes me proud to be the guy that got picked for that.” said the former two times WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
