The fans of Drew McIntyre are quite disappointed with his defeat at Saturday Night's Main Event, as he was defeated by Cody Rhodes for the second time. The last time he challenged for the Undisputed WWE Championship was at Wrestlepalooza, where he was beaten, and this time at SNME was no different.

McIntyre did not get a proper World Championship run since dropping the WWE World Championship in 2021. He won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, but dropped it in only 5 minutes when Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on him. He never got the opportunity to win the title after that.

Drew McIntyre wants to have a match with John Cena

It looks like he is pretty much out of the Undisputed WWE Championship picture after two defeats, and now he needs a new opponent. He expresses his desire to challenge John Cena and become a part of his retirement tour. Recently, he spoke with SPORTbible, where he expressed his desire about this match when he said the following;

Drew McIntyre and Cena never had a one on one match

“I know a lot of people online, and the chatter… a lot of people in the locker room, saying, ‘I would love to see you guys not just wrestle, but get on the microphone together’, because there’s so few people that can keep up with Cena. He is the absolute GOAT on the microphone when it comes to shredding people.

"He’s not just good at coming up with material prior, getting out there, he’s so quick on his feet. I always said that I wanted to test myself against the best on the mic. People would say, ‘Drew, big guy, good wrestler, but maybe he could do with being a better talker’. And I was like, ‘What? Have you seen my indie stuff?’ Finally, when I got with Punk … I proceeded to shred him completely. And then I continued that for like, a year.

A 16 man tournament had been announced to determine the final opponent of John Cena

"And then that’s when people truly saw what I was capable of. I wanted to show that against someone like Punk, who is known as one of the best talkers of all time. I believe Cena genuinely is, and he’s so quick on his feet. I’d love that opportunity to tear him to pieces, then get him in the ring and send him right back to Hollywood – where he’s doing a fantastic job.”

Drew McIntyre and John Cena never had a one on one match before, and this can be an excellent opportunity to organize this dream match. It had been announced that there would be a 16 man tournament to determine the final opponent of John Cena. Drew McIntyre has a chance of facing Cena by winning this tournament.
