As John Cena is closing in on her retirement match, which is reported to take place this December, the discussion over who would potentially be the final opponent of the champ is getting more and more over on the main screen. A lot of names had been discussed so far, from Brock Lesnar to Bron Breakker, and a lot of discussion had been going on.
But what if it turns out to be the former three times WWE World Champion, Drew McIntyre? The Scottish Psychopath recently expressed his desire to phase John Cena before he gets retired, and she even called the former 17 times world champion for a match. Speaking with The Mirror recently, Drew McIntyre set the following on his desire to face Cena;

“I’ve been invoking Cena’s name for literally years, pointing out we’ve never had a singles match. Pointing out there’s certain feelings I have based on spending years and years on the road with him that basically nobody else, besides maybe like a Sheamus or Miz or R-Truth, has. I have certain feelings, and I would love, like I did with CM Punk, to get my hands on him, to get a little bit of retribution for Drew.”
Drew McIntyre is presently having a feud with Cody Rhodes over the Undisputed WWE Championship
“But also prove, if he’s the greatest of all time, I can keep up with the greatest of all time. Like a la Punk, when he’s on the microphone, ‘he’s the best of all time on the mic’. And I got on the mic with him, and everyone’s like, ‘wow, Drew’s the guy on the mic.’ And then I won all the talking awards and whatever. I want to be in the ring with the best, and I want to prove that I belong at the top level.”
“I said ‘I want Cena’ for years, and in the past six months. I kind of changed my tune when they started doing the, let’s call it, ‘bad guy Cena’. I think he basically admitted himself last week. It wasn’t very great. It wasn’t ideal. In fact, it was terrible. And then he went back to ‘Super Cena’. I basically said, ‘I don’t want to face this’ – I’m trying to watch my language here, ‘this b** version of Cena.”
McIntyre and John Cena never had a proper feud
Drew McIntyre is indeed one of the fan favorites of WWE, but he is just not getting the proper movement to shine. Presently, he is having a feud with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, but unfortunately, it will be a late down for him since everybody knows Rhodes is not going to drop the Championship at this stage.
No doubt Drew McIntyre is one of the most talented names in WWE right now, and one proper push can lead him to the ultimate glory once again. Retiring John Cena would be the perfect moment that he actually needs. So it will not be wrong if said that he needs this push more than anyone in WWE right now.
