Ever since Drew McIntyre made his return to the main roster in 2018, he has been promoted as a top star of the promotion. She received his first proper main event push in 2020 when he won the men's Royal Rumble match and went on to win the WWE championship on the main event of WrestleMania 36.
But unfortunately, it was the pandemic era of WWE, and he lifted the Championship in a zero crowd. He had a long Championship run, and he was one of the biggest reasons behind the survival of WWE during this pandemic era. He won the WWE Championship two times during this time.
Vince Russo accused WWE of killing Drew McIntyre's main event push
But after dropping the Championship in 2021, he never got a proper Championship push despite always remaining in the main event scene. Most recently, he lost to Cody Rhodes and failed to in the Undisputed Championship. Wrestling legend Vince Russo recently discussed how WWE is failing to utilize Drew McIntyre. Speaking on his YouTube channel recently, he explained the following;

“Brock Lesnar destroys John Cena. Here’s my simple question: great for Brock—but what does that do for John Cena? Let’s look at the last match. Cody Rhodes pins Drew McIntyre clean. Great for Cody Rhodes—but what does that do for McIntyre?”
“Don’t tell me that Drew McIntyre and John Cena are not asking themselves the same question and not bringing it up. When you beat these guys clean like this, it not only does nothing for them—it sets them back. Now we’ve got to start all over again.”
He lost his latest WWE title match to Cody Rhodes
“That’s why I’m watching Drew, and my god, bro, if there is anybody on that roster who should just be collecting a check at this point, it’s Drew McIntyre. I mean, they beat this guy to death over and over. Again, Ben and Stevie—was this a punishment because of the Randy Orton thing? I mean, who knows?”
After dropping the WWE Championship in 2021, McIntyre got to win the WWE World Championship only once, but this Championship reign lasted for only 5 minutes. He defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL to win the World Heavyweight Championship. But Damian Priest cashed in the Money in the Bank contract, and he dropped the title instantly. After tha,t he never got the opportunity to be in the title.
