Dominik Mysterio had his first one on one match at SummerSlam after 5 years, and this time he defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the former two times World Champion AJ Styles. Mysterio was really impressive in this match as he was able to retain the Championship over The Phenomenal One.
This was not the first time Dominik Mysterio performed at SummerSlam. Previously, he had two Tag Team matches where he teamed up with his father. He was victorious in one match and lost the other one. His first SummerSlam appearance took place back in 2020 where he lost to Seth Rollins in a Street Fight.
Dominik Mysterio demands a new nickname
After his latest victory over AJ Styles at SummerSlam 2025, Mysterio expressed his happiness in various ways. He is so happy with this victory that he even expressed his desire to be addressed as Mr. Summerslam. Recently, he was interviewed by Bleacher Report, where he said the following;

“It’s definitely at the top for me, especially because my family and myself have a rich history when it comes to SummerSlam. SummerSlam’s definitely been a special place for the Mysterio Family, but it’s nice that the correct Mysterio and the greatest Mysterio of all time is taking over the mantle now. I don’t want to call myself any names, but I’ve heard ‘Mr. SummerSlam’ here and there.”

He also talked about WWE's relationship with AAA, “I think it’s an amazing opportunity, not only for Superstars like me, but Superstars from AAA that can come up to WWE, whether it’s Raw, SmackDown, Worlds Collide, PLEs, just to show off their talent. Guys like Mr. Iguana, Psycho Clown, Pagano, all those guys down there. … I think it’s a great deal for both ends as far as being able to share talent and go back and forth.”
It has not been confirmed whether Dominic Mysterio would continue his present feud with AJ Styles for the Championship after his latest victory at SummerSlam. So far, he had been an amazing WWE Intercontinental Champion, and it looks like his present reign will be stretched for a number of more months.
