During the Clash at the Castle event of 2022, he betrayed his father and turned heel for the first time. He started a rivalry with his legendary father, but Rey Mysterio kept declining to face him. Ultimately, the match happened at WrestleMania 39, where Dominik Mysterio was beaten by his father.
Dominik Mysterio starts a new rivalry with Rey Mysterio again
The rivalry did not continue after this match; however, they faced each other on multiple occasions, mostly in Tag Team matches. Rey mostly remained the stronger of the two. But he suffered a legitimate injury just before WrestleMania 41, and he remained out of action for over 6 months. He had to miss WrestleMania 41 due to this injury.

Dominik, on the other hand, had been extremely successful throughout this year, as the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41 was still holding on to the Championship. He also won the AAA Mega Championship, and presently he is holding both of the championships as he has been presented as a double champion.
The duo previously had a match at WrestleMania 39
After successfully defending the Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event, he appeared on RAW last Monday to brag about it, and he started to claim himself to be the best Luchador ever. Rey Mysterio made a surprise appearance and interfered with him. He dared him not to disrespect the Luchador name.
Ultimately, the duo ended up fighting each other, and Rey was able to master his son. This might have started a new rivalry between Dominik Mysterio and his father. But Dirty Dom is also rumored to defend his Championship against John Cena. It will be interesting to see where this scenario heads.
