Dominik Mysterio won the prestigious WWE Intercontinental Championship at the WrestleMania 41 event, where the previous champion, Bron Breakker, defended the title against Penta, Finn Balor, and Dirty Dom in a fatal 4 way match. Dominik pinned his on screen teammate Finn Balor in this match to win the Championship.
After winning the Championship at WrestleMania 41, Dominik Mysterio defended the title a total of three times in special events. His first PLE title defense was at Backlash, where he defeated Penta to retain the title. At Money in the Bank, he successfully defended his title against AAA star Octagon Jr.

Arguably, his biggest title defence was at SummerSlam, where he defended the Championship against two times WWE World Champion AJ Styles. It can also be considered one of the biggest victories of his wrestling career. Recently, he appeared on the “My Mom’s Basement” podcast, where he explained how he felt defending the title against Styles;

“Man, for me, other than there’s been a couple of good victories for me, but like that one would probably rank at the top. I’ve beaten my deadbeat dad, but this was, was special for me, 20 years and now coming in my five year debut anniversary, so like, it was very special. Like I said, no Judgment Day, nobody, and it wasn’t a shot at the Judgment Day.”

“Like I love my family. But it was more of like, like a shot to the haters. Cause everyone was expecting like, ‘Oh, who’s going to come out and help them, is Roxanne going to come out? Is Finn going to come out?’ Like, no, no one came out. I told him I was going to do it all on my own and I did just that. I outsmarted AJ and I beat him right in the middle of that ring.”
After defeating AJ Styles at SummerSlam, Dominik Mysterio is not having a regular feud at this moment, like most of the fans. expected him to continue his feud with the Phenomenal One. So far, he has been an excellent champion, and we can expect him to have a longer title reign. He can even carry the Championship to WrestleMania 42.
