The last time a tournament featuring John Cena was underway, and it's going on excellently, as several former WWE stars have made their returns to take part in it. One of the wrestlers who made a sensational return to participate in this tournament was Dolph Ziggler, who appeared on RAW last Monday to have a match with Solo Sikoa. However, Solo Sikoa was victorious in this match.

Dolph Ziggler is not the only wrestler who made a sensational return as a part of the tournament; former WWE United States Champion Zack Ryder also made a return to take part in it. Last week on SmackDown, Ryder featured as the surprise opponent of LA Knight. It has not been cleared whether he has returned on a full time basis or it was just a one match return.

Dolph Ziggler, on the other hand, is also not confirmed whether he is back to WWE on a full time basis. But the fans were extremely satisfied with his work rate in his match against Solo Sikoa. Recently, he appeared on the Busted Open Radio Podcast, where he talked about his match with the Samoan professional wrestler, and he explained the following;

Dolph Ziggler made a surprise return to RAW last week to challenge Solo Sikoa

“Weirdly, as much as I critique everything that I do, and when I do watch this back, I’m going to hate the way that I was standing or 15 little things most people will never see. I knew we were a little pressed for time, but I have an ability to make eight minutes seem like 15 sometimes. I was trying to do that, but also enjoy the moment and rush it, but also get to a point where we could not do it.

"I go, hopefully there are two or three minutes in this entire match where one, it looks like he’s got me and it’s not, and two, it’s believable that I could win or we get something where…Solo takes such a great post like Slaughter in the 80s. He hits that post and I take a step forward for my finish, and I could already feel the crowd coming with me, almost like it was the Money in the Bank cash in.

Zack Ryder also made a surprise return on SmackDown last Friday

"It’s not throwing away a finish. I don’t work in the company. I’m going to give them any inkling that I could pull something off. I could steal one and I could win this match. Solo could wake up and beat the living crap out of me, send me out on a stretcher and I don’t come back to WWE, and he goes onto the next round. There are so many different ways.” said Dolph Ziggler.

The first round of the tournament is not over yet, and we can still expect a couple of more surprise appearances. The fans have already started to demand to see Zack Ryder and regular on a full time basis. But since both of them are in their 40s right now, chances are very low that they would get any major push even if they are brought back on full time basis.
