2025 is still not over, but we may already have the worst match of the year, as Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter announced his pick for the worst match of the year. Three more months are still to go in 2025, but Dave Meltzer is so upset with a match that he has decided to announce it as the match of the year already.
The triple threat Women's Championship match from SmackDown, where Tiffany Stratton defended the title against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax, has already started to receive a lot of hate for various things. Especially, Nia Jax is receiving hate from the fans for the botches she committed in this match.

Dave Meltzer names Women's Championship match from SmackDown as the worst match of the year
Even Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently talked about this match, labelling it as the worst match of the year. On a recent edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer said the following about the triple threat match where Tiffany Stratton retained the Championship;
“By the way, I watched that match… I thought it was the worst WWE match of the year. There were so many botches—stuff that nobody else in the company usually botches. It wasn’t just Jade. Nia didn’t look good. Tiffany looked really green—more than she’s looked probably since she was really green. Like, just stuff that she always hits was not there.”

“The finish, what I understand is they’ve done this match at house shows—it’s a practiced match. It’s the same match they’ve been doing, and the finish is the spot where the ref stops counting. That’s been the finish at house shows. So I believe that was the final spot here, too.”
“I didn’t think the finish was anyone’s fault. The ref just stopped counting—I guess she didn’t know. It was a mess. With Jade, it feels like she’s out there trying to memorize the match. She just moves to the next thing she remembers.”

Nia Jax committed multiple botches in this match
“It doesn’t feel like a natural match at all. They froze. Nobody improvised. It all fell apart. Tiffany just stood there like a deer in the headlights. She had no idea what to do. The ref had to go over and tell her to go up and do the moonsault.”
The whole world is criticizing this Women's Championship match from SmackDown, and once again fingers have started to raise on Nia Jax, who has always been a criticized figure in WWE but earned respect with her recent improvement. But this match has brought her critics bac,k and it is going to be quite difficult for her to gain mass support again.
