Bad Bunny has been one of the recent outside celebrities who earned a lot of success working in WWE. He had multiple matches in the promotion already, and one of the most important matches of his short WWE tenure was against the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. The duo had a match at the Backlash event of 2023.

Damian Priest was working as a member of the Judgment Day faction of WWE, and after WrestleMania 39, he got involved in a rivalry with his own countryman, Bad Bunny, who was an internationally famous rapper. The match got booked for the Backlash event, which was the following PLE of WrestleMania 39.

WWE booked this match to provide more excitement for the home crowd of Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny's performance in this match had been extremely impresses and he also picked up a huge victory in this match. Recently, Damian Priest remembered the match while speaking with Delivering Happiness, where he revealed training Bad Bunny for the match. He said;

Damian Priest helped Bad Bunny to train for this match

“So here we are. And they finally said ‘Yes, we’ll do a singles match.’ And I was flying to LA every week to train him and help him out. And you know, just lock it in for this match. So when that day came, I knew that this was more important than just about anything I was ever going to do. Like, winning championships — don’t get me wrong.

"Winning the world title at WrestleMania is incredible. But having something that has an actual impact on the local community and — this was really, this is more than just a dream. This is something this is a dream I didn’t know I was having, put it that way.

Priest was defeated by Bunny in this match

“So the fact that we went out there and then killed it. Man, that one I was like, ‘I can retire right now. I’m okay with it.’ And for him — and I’ll say this. The only reason why it was good was because of he busted his * to make sure it was good. He brought it, he trained.”

Bad Bunny did not return to WWE after this match, but we can definitely expect him to perform again since he has been proven quite brilliant in the ring. Damian Priest, on the other hand, had a brilliant run in WWE after this match as he went on to win the Money in the Bank Ladder match and cashed it in successfully to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL.
