Damian Priest had been one of the top projects of Triple H after he took charge of the creative team of WWE in 2022. He gave him a very strong build ever since he took charge of the creative of WWE. Things started taking off for him when he first won the men's Money in the Bank ladder match in 2023.

He went on to cash in his contract on Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He had been a very strong champion and regularly defended the Championship as long as he was champion. But ultimately, he could not be a very successful champion, and after dropping the title at SummerSlam 2024, he could never go back to the main event status.

Damian Priest talks about not receiving enough screen time

Things started going really downhill for Damian Priest in recent times after he was completely it is from the Championship picture, and he started mostly focusing on non title feuds. His latest feud was against Aleister Black, and they even featured in the main event of Smackdown in a recent week. But this feud is not getting any screen time either.

Damian Priest won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL

Recently, Damian Priest was seen working in WWE Main Event show, which does not feature on any television channel, and it is a show for the jobbers only. WWE fans started asking questions about whether the promotion is not considering Priest's push. Priest recently appeared on "Delivering Happiness with Nick Turturro," where he discussed the situation by stating the following;

"This past year, I've taken a step back. Been banged up a little bit," said the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion. "Kind of giving the bones and joints and ligaments and everything in-between a little bit of a break."

He has recently struggling to get regular screen time

"Since I've been in WWE, I've literally taken zero days off," he stated. "I've never asked for time off because I've been hurting. The company now, this year, decided, 'Let's take it easy on him.' Because I've been going hard for a while. Tore my shoulder a couple times within the last year and a half. My knees are banged up, my back is – oof. I need a lot of work done."

The lackluster booking of Damian Priest shows the present scenario of the WWE creative team. They do not have any proper planning on which wrestler they should put over. Presently, they are mostly relying on the already established stars and not focusing on building new stars at all. Priest may go down as one of the worst World Champions in WWE history.
