D-Von Dudley made his WWE debut back in the early 90s when he was a teenager. During his early career, he worked as a singles wrestler mostly only the independent circuit. After becoming a part of ECW, he started teaming up with Bubba Ray Dudley, and slowly, the Tag Team became one of the biggest attractions of ECW.

D-Von Dudley discusses the struggle of dealing with racism

But the early days in professional wrestling were not much easier for D-Von since he had to deal with regular racism issues. D-Von recently remembered his early days in the world of professional wrestling and explained how it was really difficult for him to survive due to racism. Speaking on Maven's YouTube channel, he said the following;

D-Von Dudley made his debut in the wrestling world back in 1991

“Being African-American in this in this business still — especially in the very beginning of 1991. And even though we got started in 96, I was still petrified of racism. Somebody not saying, ‘Okay, we can’t allow him to say this, because watching a black man say this in this type of business or vice versa?’

"Because I found that to be very, very — a point of view in so many people when I was coming up in the business, that their philosophy was still stuck in the ’50s and ’60s. A black man should never say anything because of the fact that he’s black and you’re in a white man’s business.” said the Tag Team legend.

D-Von Dudley started to flourish even more after joining WWE along with his Tag Team partner Bubba Ray Dudley. In 2002, WWE attempted to push him as a singles wrestler, but things did not work out for him. Ultimately, he had to revert to tag team wrestling, which suited him more. Today, he stands as a professional wrestling legend.
