It had been announced recently that the first ever International WrestleMania will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, and it is going to be WrestleMania 43, which is scheduled for 2027. In the last 41 years, WrestleMania has never moved out of the United States of America, and Saudi Arabia is the fortunate nation to have the honor.

Previously, it was rumoured that a country from Europe would be the first Nation to host WrestleMania outside of the United States of America. John Cena even teased a future WrestleMania in England when he appeared during the Money in the Bank event of 2023. But it is not happening before Saudi Arabia hosts WrestleMania 43.

Concerns rising on WrestleMania 43 announcement

But a large number of fans are not happy with this decision, including some of the wrestling pundits. One of those pundits is the former WCW boss, Eric Bischoff, who is concerned about this decision made by the WWE officials. Speaking on his “83 Weeks” podcast recently, he explained the following;

WrestleMania 43 has been announced for Saudi Arabia

“It’s both. It’s the evolution of the business, it’s reality. TKO is a publicly held company. They have a responsibility to the shareholders that are part owners of the company to deliver the biggest return they can to the bottom line. It’s just a fact of life, especially for a publicly held company.

“But it’s also breaking a tradition, and I can relate to Vince’s concern. You know, professional wrestling truly is an American phenomenon. Yes, it’s taken place all over the world and blah, blah, blah, blah, technically speaking. But it really is an American phenomenon. It’s uniquely American. And to take it outside of the country — Canada doesn’t count.

Eric Bischoff is concerned about this announcement about WrestleMania 43

"It’s just like another state, it’s a big state, but it’s just another state, and it’s easily accessible by people in the United States for the most part. So taking it to the other side of the planet is a big move, and it’s going to come with a cost.”

A large number of fans are not happy with this decision since Saudi Arabia is one of the most conservative Muslim countries where women cannot wrestle in their desired clothes, and there will not be alcohol either. This is definitely a business decision that will help WWE make a lot of profits, but it will also be quite controversial.
