Cody Rhodes has been the face of WWE for nearly four years, and he has done a tremendous job ever since his sensational return to the promotion at WrestleMania 38. Seth Rollins did not have an opponent at the mentioned event, and he was desperate to have a match. Vince McMahon guaranteed him a surprise opponent, and the wrestling world was waiting to know who it was.
Ultimately, it was revealed to be Cody Rhodes, and he received a sensational victory over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. WWE officials tried their best to keep the return of Rhodes a secret, but it was really difficult to keep everything secret in the world of the internet. Ultimately, it was predicted by the fans, and almost everybody knew who was coming.

But the match was really very special, and it is still discussed to this date. This match helped Cody a lot to establish himself as the successor of Roman Reigns and is doing an excellent job at this moment as the Undisputed WWE Champion. Seth Rollins recently spoke on “Games With Names,” where he remembered this match and explained why it was really special. He stated the following;
“At this point, Cody had only been back for a few months. He came back to WWE after a long hiatus, started a rival company, AEW, and had been making some headway over there. And then he comes back to WWE at WrestleMania as my mystery opponent, which [is] legitimately about as last-minute as you can get for a WrestleMania match.
"And that was a big deal for our industry to have someone—he was like the first guy who had left, gone to AEW, and then had come back. And I was tasked with working with him right out of the gate. We were looking to make him a big star.

“He had done his due diligence while he was gone to get himself to a position where, when we brought him back, he was ready to be one of the top acts in the company, which, when he left, he was not that guy. Top brass didn’t see him as that guy, so he was coming back in a position where they were hoping that they could groom him to be in the John Cena position. And so, he was more than excited to get in the ring with me.

"He’s someone whom I’ve had a lot of history with. His father helped kind of hone him and build him in developmental. I worked with him and his brother a lot when my group, The Shield, first came in WWE back in 2012. And so, there was a lot of history there, and he was more than happy to step into the ring with me.”
Cody Rhodes had been promoted as a main eventer for the first time in his professional wrestling career upon returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38. He had a series of matches with Seth Rollins upon his return, and this feud helped him a lot to establish himself as the next face of WWE. After a failed attempt at WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes finally defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. Presently, he is promoted as the face of WWE, and he is doing a tremendous job.
