The potential heel turn of Cody Rhodes has been a matter of discussion for the WWE fans and analysts for quite a long time. Despite it being confirmed that WWE has no internal plans of turning him anytime soon, fans are still optimistic about seeing him turn heel during or before a major event.

That major event can be WrestleMania 42, where he is heavily rumored to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Roman Reigns in their dream third encounter. The first time the duo faced each other was at WrestleMania 39, where Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for the title in a losing effort.

Cody returned at WrestleMania XL to challenge Roman Reigns for the title again, and this time he did not make the mistake of taking the title away from him. Since then, he has been the face of WWE, and he is also in a very strong position as the Undisputed WWE Champion. He is also reportedly carrying the title at WrestleMania 42.

Cody Rhodes never turned heel since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38

Recent rumours suggest that Cody Rhodes will turn heel prior to WrestleMania 42, or at the show. But eventually, this match will definitely show his evil side for the first time since his return to WWE in 2022. Speaking on his “83 Weeks” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff discussed his upcoming heel turn by saying the following;

He is heavily rumored to turn heel before or at WrestleMania 42

“I was kind of rifling through in my mind. You know, first name that comes to mind obviously Cody Rhodes… I think it’s time. Not right now, not tonight, but sometime this [coming] year.”

“I don’t think anybody’s going to be surprised if and when that happens because that’s the natural evolution of a character and the length of time before something significant happens to hit the refresh button.” said the former boss of WCW, Eric Bischoff.
