Ever since Cody Rhodes had been attacked by Drew McIntyre on the episode of SmackDown after SummerSlam, he had remained off the WWE screen. He is actually enjoying a time since his wife Brandi Rhodes gave birth to his second child recently, but the fayfabe reason explained that he was out of action due to the mentioned attack.
But we can certainly expect him to return to action soon, and he is also expected to start a new rivalry with Drew McIntyre over the Undisputed WWE Championship. At SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to win back the Championship, and Cena is pretty much out of the world title picture right now.

Cody Rhodes to be featured at the upcoming WWE premium live event Wrestlepalooza
It is expected that the American Nightmare will start a new rivalry with the Scottish psychopath following the attack on the mentioned episode of Smackdown. During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” WWE Chief Creative Officer Triple H made it clear that Rhodes will be in action at the upcoming WWE premium live event Wrestlepalooza. Below is what he said;
Cody Rhodes has been out of action since the SmackDown after SummerSlam
“There was a lot of thought but it was in a brief period of time, so we were sort of under the gun. As soon as we heard Indianapolis was on the table, had the date open, we were in, this place is phenomenal, so that was a no brainer for us, but we moved quick, the whole thing came together quickly, ESPN asked for the date, they wanted a mega event, we said yes, we had to pick a name and go."

Rhodes is expected to have a feud with Drew McIntyre
About this expected rivalry, the fans of Drew McIntyre are not happy that he is given a feud at this stage, as Cody Rhodes will definitely keep the Undisputed WWE Championship until WrestleMania 42, and presently, you will only have some filler feuds. And Drew McIntyre would have to go to this filler feud.
Nothing has been confirmed officially, but it is pretty much clear that McIntyre is going to be the next rival of Rhodes to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Once again, the Scottish professional wrestler will be left out of the main event scene on the big stages. It does not look like he is going to win a world title soon.
