Cody Rhodes has been promoted as the face of WWE ever since he returned to the promotion at WrestleMania 38, and he was established as the face of the promotion after he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. He is presently standing as a two times Undisputed WWE champion, and he is doing a marvellous job.
But it has also been a fact that Cody Rhodes has only worked as a babyface ever since returning to WWE, and a large portion of fans are looking forward to seeing him turn heel. However, it has been confirmed multiple times that internally WWE does not have any plans of turning him heel at this moment, but reports also suggest that there is a long term planning for turning him heel.
Mark Henry discusses the potential heel turn of Cody Rhodes
WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry believes that the American Nightmare is slowly turning heel, and he can complete his heel turn at any time. He even claimed that Rhodes is showing his Darth Vader side. Speaking on the “Busted Open After Dark” podcast, he explained the following;

“It’s been a long time since we heard the guy that’s the leader, the guy that you so-called QB1, that we call the franchise, come out and make an announcement that that’s who he is. It sounded very heelish. I know that our compadre Bully Ray has been saying for years now, damn man, Cody, he’s not quite Dusty.

"He’s got some bad Darth Vader Sith tendencies. And after tonight, Bully, I see it. Like, that’s not what the hero does. And yes, it’s okay to have an edge. And maybe it’s the fact that Drew McIntyre is bringing this side of Cody out.” said the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry regarding the potential heel turn of Rhodes.
There is a strong rumour that Cody Rhodes will turn heel before WrestleMania 42 to defend his Championship against a babyface Roman Reigns. Their third encounter has always been a dream match with Cody being a heel and Roman Reigns being the babyface. As of now, it looks like this match is definitely happening, but is Cody turning heel by the match? Time only knows.
