In his first season, he won the Royal Rumble match to earn the right to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39.

But he lost the opportunity, and in the very next year, he returned to challenge Roman Reigns for the title by earning the right to face him as he won the Royal Rumble match for the second time in a row. At WrestleMania XL, he finally defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE World Championship for the first time in his wrestling career.

Since then, Cody Rhodes has been standing as the face of WWE at present; he stands as a two times WWE World Champion. He is having a feud with Drew McIntyre over the Championship right now. Recently, he made the revelation of why he will never take a chair shot to his head. Speaking on his “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, he stated the following;

“In my efforts to do a chair shot to the head, I said, ‘Let’s do it safely. Let’s shave this chair down. Sandpaper the chair, make it feel like a cookie sheet.’ We did it, and I got hit in the head by Shawn Spears. The cookie-sheet part worked when I said, ‘Swing for the fences.’ The sandpaper part worked too. But what didn’t work was the giant bar at the lip of the chair.”
“That’s why there’s a scar on the back of my head. I could feel the blood start to pool. It wasn’t about whether the chair was real or not; it was the optics of hitting one another in the head, what that means for concussions. Because of the optics around our business and concussion protocol, everything changed. Now you can’t have a hangnail backstage in WWE without someone in the corner checking it.” said the present Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
