Ever since Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE, he has been working as a babyface in WWE, and he is also being projected as the face of the promotion. He made his return to WWE in 2022 during WrestleMania 38, and ever since the mentioned event, he has been projected as the ultimate champion of WWE. Needless to say, he has done an amazing job so far.

But a large number of fans are really bored with his repetitive and predictable bookings so far. It is so easy to guess that he will never drop his title apart from any major stages like WrestleMania and SummerSlam. He will only have filler matches in the rest of the events. A lot of fans believe that he potential heel turn may fix this situation.

Cody Rhodes to turn heel soon?

Cody Rhodes was recently asked whether he is planning to turn heel anytime soon. He replied that even if he turns heel in the future, he will not be able to work as a complete and proper heel. Recently, the Undisputed WWE Champion spoke with the “All The Smoke” podcast where he explained the following about potentially turning a villain;

Cody Rhodes has been working as a face since returning to WWE

“I also think it’s more challenging. We’re at this point where the longer that it goes for me, the less I’m able to turn to this nefarious demon bad guy. Because so much has happened, right, that there’s a core audience now that won’t go. And we actually saw this with with John Cena recently. I admired him taking the challenge and loved him going for the idea of being a bad guy at the end. But you’ve got decades of equity built with them.

“All that’s probably going to happen is ‘No, we’re we’re going to stay with you. We don’t agree with a lot of these decisions, but we’re staying with you.’ Which is fun in its own way, because it creates a hell of an acoustic in the live crowd. But heel-babyface is really funny to determine. If you were looking at a sheet of our roster, a lot of guys who look like heels might be babyfaces. A lot of guys who look like babyfaces might be the heels. Same with the girls. Our audience is going make the choice.”

Recent reports suggest that WWE officials are not planning to turn Cody Rhodes heel anytime soon, and they are going to keep on pushing him as a babyface for a while. The news might upset several fans, but the issue lies quite deep, as the promotion could not build a proper opponent for the American Nightmare while building him as the face of the promotion. Presently, a lot of things need to be fixed.
