Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE in 2022, and he has been active in the promotion since as a babyface. He had been presented as the face of the promotion ever since he returned. Ever since he returned to WWE, he has been working as a babyface since he was promoted as the ultimate champion of the promotion. Some of the fans are already demanding to see him turn heel since this baby face character already seems a little stale. But recent reports suggest that WWE does not have any recent plans to turn him anytime soon.

Cody Rhodes also explained recently that it is really difficult to maintain a proper babyface status than working as a heel. He has worked as a heel during his first run in WWE when he was working as a mid card. Recently, he spoke with the “All The Smoke” podcast, where he explained why it is really difficult to keep working as a babyface than working as a heel. Here is what you had to say;

“Today it’s easier to be a heel, I suppose. You know, traditionally a heel is going to lead the match… They’re going to feel the crowd. Hopefully, they’re educated enough to know their connection with them. When they want you to get up, when they want you to, ‘Not yet’ in terms of, ‘then this comeback comes,’ whatever. Even with that said, it’s a little easier to be disliked today.

“Whereas in 2025 now and in the last 5 years or so, babyfaces were essentially an endangered species. Because something about doing the right thing wasn’t as cool as it used to be. You know, the ’80s are one thing. Bob Backlund was amazing and beloved by fans, but that type of kind of goody two shoes, virtuous style wasn’t the thing that was on. We got Breaking Bad on TV, you got Game of Thrones, there’s a different type of hero.”
A large number of fans are already bored with the repetitive and predictable storylines of Cody Rhodes. Anyone can see that he will not drop his Championship in any normal stages apart from big stages like SummerSlam or WrestleMania. This is the reason a lot of fans are demanding a heel turn of the present Undisputed WWE Champion.
