Cody Rhodes wrestling career

Cody Rhodes decided to become a professional wrestler at a very young age, and he started training at the age of 12. He joined Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2006, which was the developmental territory of WWE back then. His first male roster appearance was in a backstage segment featuring his father, Dusty Rhodes, and Randy Orton. He wrestled his first match against Randy Orton in a losing effort.

In the same year, he started working in the WWE main roster regularly, and Vince McMahon gave him a mid card break during his early career. In 2008, he teamed up with Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr. to form the faction Legacy, and it was finally looking like it could be his breaking point to the main event scene.

But he remained in the mid cards only. He had been a two times WWE Intercontinental Champion and also a six times WWE Tag Team Champion during his first run in the promotion. He played multiple characters like "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and the much criticized character Stardust. In 2016, he decided to leave the promotion after a lot of creative frustration. He said the following about his creative disagreement;

"[Triple H] took [the departure] personally because he had done so much for my dad. There was one conversation where he said, "I'm shocked that you feel this way after everything I've done for your family." But I told him, "I'm not my dad. I can't stay here out of loyalty to you for giving my dad a job in 2005. I really appreciate what you did for my dad. But I'm not him. He's not here anymore. I've got to be me." I think [he] knew, "Oh, this is real. He's not asking for more money. He's not asking for a title shot. Nothing would matter at this point."

In 2019, a new major professional wrestling promotion was founded, named AEW, and he was one of the key figures of this promotion. He also worked in the ring, and even in AEW, he was treated as a mid card. He won the AEW TNT Championship three times, which was the mid card title of this promotion. In early 2022, he decided to leave the promotion.

He made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as the surprise opponent of Seth Rollins. This is the first time he had been presented as a main event star not only in WWE but in his whole wrestling career. He had a series of matches with Seth Rollins, and he won all of them. But he picked up a big injury, which kept him out of action for a long time.

He returned to in ring action in the Royal Rumble as an entrant in the men's Royal Rumble match of 2023. He won the Royal Rumble match to earn the opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39. But ultimately, he failed to defeat Roman Reigns at the mentioned event.

Cody Rhodes worked really hard for the rest of the year to earn another opportunity. Once again, he won the men's Royal Rumble match in 2024, and yet again, he earned the opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns for the title at WrestleMania XL. This time, he made no mistake but to beat Roman Reigns and win his first world title in WWE in the form of the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Since then, he had been presented as the face of WWE and super he had been a two times WWE World Champion. He had multiple mega rivalries with some of the biggest legends in the world of professional wrestling, including John Cena and Kevin Owens. He is still holding the Undisputed WWE Championship, and no doubt he is still the face of the promotion.
