CM Punk had been one of the biggest names of WWE during the PG Era of the promotion, and he was also a solid main eventer of the time. He won the WWE World Championship multiple times and also had some amazing feuds with some of the top stars, like John Cena and Jeff Hardy. But the only thing he could never do was main eventing WrestleMania.
After getting stripped out of the WrestleMania main event for back to back 3 years, he could not take it anymore and decided to leave WWE forever. He was angrier about the fact that all three years, the main event of WrestleMania was given to part timers like The Rock and Batista. After his final performance at the Royal Rumble 2014, he left WWE.
Rey Mysterio believed that CM Punk would return to WWE
CM Punk remained out of WWE for nearly A decade, and he even said that he never wanted to return to WWE again. But ultimately, at Survivor Series 2023, he made a sensational return to WWE after having a failed run in WWE. Since then, he has been active in WWE, and he is maintaining his main event status.
CM Punk left WWE in January 2014
Rey Mysterio, who is a WWE Hall of Famer and on screen rival of CM Punk recently explained that he always knew that Punk would definitely return to WWE one day. It took 10 long years, but he finally made his return to WWE. Recently, Mysterio was seen talking about it in a video posted by “Roots of Fight” on Instagram. Here is what he said;

“I’m glad the Punk came back. Hoping that one day, we get to step in the ring together like we did back in 2002. We all go down this path that sometimes can be very hectic, very tiring, stressful at times, you know, it happened to me in 2014. After being with WWE for so many years, it’s like I was tapping out.
"I had had enough; my body was telling me, ‘Okay, you’ve had enough.’ I left and came back, and when Punk left, I knew that one day he would come back.” said Rey Mysterio, regarding the return of CM Punk to WWE, who has been active in the promotion since Survivor Series 2023 and is doing an amazing job.
