CM Punk made his return to WWE at the end of Survivor Series 2023 to surprise everyone. The fans saw it coming already, but nobody expected it to happen in the way it did. He appeared after the main event WarGames match, which shocked the entire world that night.
Punk was brought back in WWE to receive a strong main event push like he used to have before leaving WWE in January 2014. The first thing he was given was the huge rivalry with Seth Rollins, but it could not be continued due to an injury that Punk received during the men's Royal Rumble match of 2024 at the Royal Rumble event.

Once he returned to the promotion from the injury, he started a feud with The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre. The next in line for him were Seth Rollins and presently Gunther. Recently, he spoke with “Allenownz Wrasslin” where he thanked WWE for keeping faith in him. He said;
“It means a lot. I think it’s easy to look at it from the outside perspective. Of course, it sounds great. ‘Hey, you’re going to win and you’re going to beat everybody,’ but I’m at the point in my career where I think there’s more story to tell, and there’s more depth in a loss.

"There’s more depth than rebounding from something. I tore my tricep when I first came back here. I, for eight minutes, I really felt bad for myself, I was like, ‘This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.’”

CM Punk will challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam
"I did that, and that’s how I lead by example, and that’s how I can use my life experiences and talk to somebody else who has, you know, first time they’ve been injured. I can pull them aside and say, ‘Hey, I know what it feels like, and I’m telling you, it’s not the end of the world.’ They can look at me and trust me to know that what I’m saying is fact, because they’ve seen it.”

Presently, CM Punk is having a feud with Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. The duo is going one on one for the mentioned Championship at the upcoming PLE event of WWE, which is SummerSlam. Punk is also the favourite to win the title at the said event.
