CM Punk is indeed one of the biggest names in the world of professional wrestling right now, and he has been active in WWE since November 2023. He ended his first WWE tenure in January 2014 over creative disagreement and did not return to the promotion for the next decade. Things have changed; Punk does not look to be the same person anymore.
Since he is one of the top stars of WWE right now, he has creative freedom, and he has the right to make changes in his storylines. CM Punk had to go through a difficult time to become a top star in WWE, and when he started working in the promotion, he was treated only as a lower mid card, as eventually, his situation improved in the promotion.
CM Punk discusses his approach to the creative
Punk recently talked about his approach towards the creative, and he remembered how he used to approach the creative before comparing it to his approach in recent times. While speaking on "Pardon My Take," Punk compared his present approach to the creative with how he used to do it previously. Here is what he has to say about it;

"I think there's a little bit of magic that can happen because, to me, there are a lot of great minds I work with. There's a lot of people who have more experience than me, and maybe back in the day I would say, 'No, I know what to do.' And you know, now I'm more ... I guess I'm just kind of chill now.

"Whereas before it was more rebellious, now there's, to me, a magic about maybe taking something that you didn't see or didn't think of, somebody else's idea, and going, 'Oh, you know what? Yeah, okay, I can do that with this. And hey, what if we did this.'" said the former six times WWE World Champion.
CM Punk left WWE in 2014 because he failed. He was getting robbed of the main event of WrestleMania each and every year, and it was being filled by some part timers like The Rock and Batista. After he returned to WWE in 2023, his wish of main eventing WrestleMania was finally granted when he featured in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 1.
