WWE introduced a mid card division for women for the first time in WWE history with two mid card championships, one for each SmackDown and RAW. WWE RAW got the Women's Intercontinental Championship, and Lyra Valkyria was the inaugural champion. She had been an excellent champion until the arrival of Becky Lynch.
The Women's Intercontinental championship was just another title with fewer bookings, but the involvement of Becky Lynch stored some prestige into the title and also helped it to get regular bookings. The title is scheduled to be defended at Night 2 of SummerSlam.
Becky Lynch promotes her upcoming big match
So far, the title picture has been extremely impressive, and we are going to see the final chapter between Becky and Valkyria tomorrow at SummerSlam. Becky recently promoted the match while speaking with Michael Cole, where she talked about a lot of things, including a hard upcoming big match at Summerslam. Here is what she had to say;

“Lyra lit up when I walked out there. Looked like she was gonna cry. I allowed Lyra to make history like her hero. Becky and Lyra with the golds. All my momentum, all my hard work, I had just made her a double champion and just ruined it. She has to be taught a lesson. It’s tough love. If your Dog pees on the floor, what do you do? You rub its face and it has to learn.”

“It means everything. It means everything because this title is the workhorse championship and that’s what I am. And it’s also a championship that was designed to give people opportunities. And I am the gatekeeper of opportunities. I can do for people’s careers what nobody else can. You look at Lyra. She was a fine little champion, she was the first Intercontinental. But look at her now, I have still elevated her like nothing else has because I’m the greatest.”
Bayley was also involved in this title picture previously, but she was out of it for now. Some rumours suggest that Bayley will get involved in this match sooner or later, and there is also a possibility that she may return with her lovable Hugger persona. Moreover, the chances of Becky Lynch retaining the title are very low.
