He was having an amazing time as a heel during that time, and slowly he was establishing himself as the biggest heel of the promotion.

He just finished a long running rivalry with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, and he received massive praise for his excellent work in this feud. The fans were hoping to see him win the WWE World Championship in the future after his back to back excellent performances.

Update on Kevin Owens' neck injury

He was about to have a mega match at WrestleMania 41 with Randy Orton, and the build up for the match was also in progress. But unfortunately, he announced his injury during this build up and this much awaited match had to be cancelled. He recently attended the 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR event in Daytona, where he talked about his surgery and whether there is any possibility of returning to action;

Kevin Owens was a scheduled to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41

“Yeah, so it’s a neck surgery. I needed neck fusion. It was very stressful going into it, because we weren’t really sure how severe the fusion was going to be, how many levels, all this stuff. Thankfully, ended up only being one level, which is the best case scenario for something like this.”

“The surgery was successful. I had a great doctor. The thing is, now we have to see how the bones fuse, and there’s no guarantee that it’s going to work. You know, how my body heals. And we’ll see. Some guys had success, some guys didn’t. Fingers crossed I can come back to wrestling in the next year. Really don’t know, though, but yeah, my goal is to come back. So hopefully that’s what happens.”

Neck injuries have always been really fatal in the world of professional wrestling. It has ended many careers previously. Stone Cold Steve Austin had to retire at the age of 37 due to a recurring neck injury. Careers of the wrestlers like Daniel Bryan and Edge also ended because of fatal neck injuries. But thankfully, they could return to action, and hopefully, Kevin Owens will also return to action one day.
