The Rock is often considered one of the biggest reasons behind the ultimate success of WWE and the promotion mastering WCW during the 90s. His rivalry with Stone Cold Steve Austin is still considered one of the best rivalries in the history of professional wrestling. He may have had a short career in wrestling, but his contributions can never be forgotten.

He started working in WWE under the ring name Rocky Maivia, and despite receiving an excessive amount of heat from the audience, he turned out to be a Megastar and also became one of the biggest attractions of the Attitude Era, which is often considered the best time period in the history of professional wrestling.

Ken Shamrock remembers working with The Rock

One of his co-stars during the Attitude Era, Ken Shamrock, recently remembered working with him and revealed that he had a pleasant experience working with the People's Champion. The duo had multiple matches during their time together in the promotion. Shamrock recently appeared on the “Wrestling Life Online” podcast, where he explained the following;

Ken Shamrock and The Rock worked together during the Attitude Era

“Yeah, you know, he was another one. You sat down, and you could tell immediately that his mind was different than anyone else’s. The way he saw things, how he put the matches together, and being able to tie in what I did to what he does. Being able to have those differences swerve when it came to finishes or even in between, in the middle of the match, where you want to pick it up and drop it real quick. He just had that mindset that he would see things before they happened.”

Stone Cold Steve Austin The Rock

Ken Shamrock stopped working as a wrestler in WWE back in 1999

“I saw it right away; the mindset was there, and he started to develop that as we were doing our matches together. He started feeling very comfortable and confident in the direction where his character was gonna go. The minute they got him out of the Nation, the minute they handed him the mic, the stars went off. It was just unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a transformation like that in my life, where literally, they just handed him the mic and it was game over.”

The Rock stopped working on a regular basis after his defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2002, since he started working regularly in Hollywood. He went on to become a megastar of Hollywood, much like he was a megastar in WWE. But he still keeps on returning to WWE to give sporadic appearances. The Rock will always be remembered as one of the biggest legends of wrestling.
