AJ Styles and John Cena created history at the Crown Jewel event in Perth, Australia, as their match is already being considered one of the best matches in the history of professional wrestling. Both of them are heading towards their retirements, and they gave the fans a gift of a lifetime before leaving wrestling forever.
This was their last ever encounter, and the fans are getting emotional over the fact that these two wrestlers will never wrestle each other again. They fought for the first time in WWE back in 2016 at the Money in the Bank event, where they presented a classic match, followed by their match at SummerSlam. In both of these two matches, AJ Styles had been victorious.

AJ Styles talked about his match against John Cena from Crown Jewel
Styles and Cena had their last match at the Royal Rumble 2017 for the WWE Championship, and Cena won the match. They did not have any one on one after that until Crown Jewel 2025. Styles recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of the Boston Herald, where he discussed what made this match really great. He said the following;
This was their last ever match
“I’m not sure there is anyone in the ring I trust more than John Cena,” Styles said. “He’s incredible at understanding what the fans need when they need it. He’s even more incredible with the way he treats people. During our match at Crown Jewel, which is the last time we’ll ever wrestle each other, I was in the moment. I embraced and enjoyed it — I mean, it’s hard not to love what you do when you’re having so much fun doing it.

“People might be surprised to hear this, but for John and myself, it was another match until it was over. Afterward, we were able to reflect on its significance. In the moment, we were doing what we do to entertain people. We’ve been doing this for decades; this is what we do. The greatest part is it meant a lot to a lot of people. We wanted to give wrestling fans something special, and I think we accomplished that.”
John Cena is presently going through his retirement tour, and he will have his final match at the end of this year. AJ Styles is also 48, and he does not have much time left in his career. Reports suggest that he is already considering a retirement at the end of 2026, and he may even have a retirement tour next year, just like John Cena.
