Last week, WWE flew to Paris to host one of its premium live events, Clash in Paris. The show consisted of a total of six action packed matches, adn at Summerslam, the WWE Intercontinental Championship match where AJ Styles challenged the present champion, Dominik Mysterio for the Championship.

The younger half of Rey Mysterio won the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41 after he won a fatal 4 way match. He had been an excellent champion so far, and at Clash in Paris, she encountered one of the toughest opponents of his Championship run so far, and it was the former two times WWE World Champion, AJ Styles.

AJ Styles shared praise for the Paris crowd

Styles had a fierce match for the Championship, but ultimately, he lost. The crowd had been extremely loud throughout the event and also during this match. AJ Styles recently spoke about the crowd of Paris while speaking on the post show of the mentioned premium live event. Here is what the former two times WWE World Champion said;

“Well, yeah, yeah, I have had something. It was in Lyon, France, and the thing is, I wasn’t able to absorb it and take it all in. But tonight, I got to soak it in, close my eyes, and just take mental images that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Man, I didn’t realize… I didn’t realize how much AJ Styles was loved, and that means a lot. It’s not just like… ‘Hey, he wrestles for the WWE.’

AJ Styles challenged Dominik Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Summerslam

"They appreciate the work that I put in for the past two decades, two and a half decades and man, that means a lot. I did something right in this business. Not everything, but tonight it showed me I did have what it takes to get the love and support that I need.

"Need is the key word. I needed that. I needed that love to have a great match with Dominik Mysterio. Not because Dominik Mysterio’s not great, cause he is. I needed it for me. I needed it for my ego. All these little things that shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it does cause you just don’t know if you’ve done enough.

"I needed that. I’ll take every opportunity that I can get, and I don’t know if this leads to another one, cause I lost. I don’t have support from anybody else. I don’t have a clique or a squad or a club anymore. I have no one. All I’ve got is me and my family when I go home. That’s all I’ve got. I had France tonight.

Dominik Mysterio retained the Championship at the mentioned event

"They had my back, but they couldn’t get in the ring or come outside and help me outside of the ring. They couldn’t do that. I guess you could say I miss my boys. I miss Gallows and Anderson, Omos. Miss those guys, man. It’d be nice to have some help, but it’s on me now.”

AJ Styles continued his rivalry with Dominik Mysterio for the Championship, but he could not capture the title. After WWE travelled to Europe for their first premium live event a number of years ago, it was proven that the European crowd was really good. The crowd of Paris was also no different, and they did a massive job to show their support to the WWE stars.
