Manchester United struggled a lot in almost all the positions last year, and one of the positions that they needed to fix for this season, desperately, was their goalkeeper. Andre Onana has been playing as the goalkeeper of Manchester United for the last couple of years, but he is making back to back errors in almost every match.
Last season, the Red Devils went through their worst campaign in Premier League history and also the worst ever campaign in nearly 50 years. Andre Onana made multiple mistakes throughout the season, and the fans were furious about his mistakes. They desperately wanted an alternative this season.

Why Manchester United did not buy Emiliano Martinez
Multiple names were linked with Manchester United this season to replace Andre Onana this season and the biggest favourite was the Argentine international Emiliano Martinez, the World Cup winner who is presently active at Aston Villa. Other names were also linked with the club, but Martinez seemed to be the favourite.

But ultimately, Manchester United decided not to sign Emiliano Martinez, and they did not get any proper replacement for Andre Onana either. They signed an unknown Belgian goalkeeper named Senne Lammens, but there is a high possibility that he may not be given an instant break in the first team of Manchester United Football Team at this moment.

But why did the Red Devils decide not to sign Emiliano Martinez, despite he was a World Cup winner and his amazing form in recent years? According to reports from The Mirror, the former Premier League Champions snubbed the idea of signing the Argentine international because of his age, which is 33, and he was also on a wage of £200,000, which the club did not want to pay.
Therefore, the fans could not experience this dream signing. Another position where Manchester United is lacking presently is their midfield, and despite having a vulnerable midfield, they did not sign any proper midfielders to fix the issue. The former Champions are presently going through a slow build up up and it will take years to fix all the issues.
