The first game of the Premier League campaign of 2025 26 was an amazing thriller and definitely an amazing way to kick things off. Once again, Liverpool proved why they are the team to beat, with Bournemouth also showing enough promise to qualify for European football next season.
Liverpool looked a little more dominant than Bournemouth in the first half; however, it was not like Liverpool was the superior team. Bournemouth did an excellent job at Anfield, and their effort was really commendable. They even had some excellent chances of scoring their first goal of the Premier League in the first half of the game.

The first goal of the match came from Hugo Ekitike's right foot, and it was a wonderful goal. The French forward was definitely not the best player on the pitch, but he did exactly what he was supposed to do. As of now, it will not be exaggerated if said that Ekitike is a better finisher than Darwin Nunez ever was at Liverpool.
There was one controversial moment in the first half where Ekitike was about to become the final man before Marcos Sensei was blamed for changing the direction of the ball using his hand. Liverpool players were demanding a red card, but surprisingly, the referee did not even consider it a foul. VAR did not think it was the foul either.

The second half of the game started in Liverpool's favor, and the goal that came from Ekitike's foot seemed to restore confidence in the Liverpool team. Only after 3 minutes of the beginning of the second half, Cody Gakpo stretched Liverpool's lead of Liverpool by scoring an excellent solo goal.
In the 63rd minute, Bournemouth had the response they rightfully deserved and scored their first goal of the Premier League campaign of 2025-26. Once again, the high line defence was the culprit for Liverpool. After scoring the goal, Bournemouth had been completely dominant in the game, and they responded with the second goal in the 76th minute as Antoine Semenyo scored an excellent solo goal. Ibrahima Konate was really poor defensively during this goal.

Federico Chiesa scored his first goal of the Premier League, which also turned out to be the winner for Liverpool
After the equalizer, Liverpool looked quite nervous, and it was looking like the first game of the season was going out of their hands until the unwanted man, Federico Chiesa, who came out from the bench, saved Liverpool by scoring the third goal for the team.
Mohamed Salah scored the 4th goal for Liverpool, the 6th goal of the game, and his first goal of the campaign to win the game for Liverpool. Undoubtedly, it was an amazing game of Football, but Liverpool manager Arne Slot made some questionable decisions; however, they do not need to be discussed anymore since Liverpool picked up the victory. Moreover, this game was an amazing way to start the Premier League 2025-26 campaign.
