Nottingham Forest returned to the Premier League at the 2022-23 campaign after a long time, and for the first two seasons, they really had to struggle to survive in the first division of football. In their first season in the Premier League, they finished 16th, somehow avoiding relegation, and in the next season, they finished 17th, once again just avoiding relegation.

Nuno Espirito Santo took charge of the Nottingham Forest team in 2023, and in his first season, he could not do anything special as he could only help the team to survive in the Premier League. Santo previously managed Premier League teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He did not have a very pleasant record before joining Forest.

But last season he has done an amazing job in the Premier League as his team qualified for the European football. It was the first time for Forest to play in a European competition after such a long time. At one point, it was looking like Forest might even qualify for the UEFA Champions League. They were the only team last season to defeat Liverpool at Anfield, who were the winners of the Premier League last season.

Ultimately, they qualified for the UEFA Conference League by finishing 7th. The fans were extremely happy with the progress, and Nuno Espirito Santo was instantly established as a hero. Forest have also done an excellent job in the transfer market this season and they will definitely fight to keep their European spot alive this season.

But the recent reports from sports journalist Matteo Moretto have been quite shocking as he claimed that there is an ongoing tension between Nuno Espirito Santo and the club officials, which may result in Santo getting sacked from Forest. In fact, there is a consideration of a potential sack going on internally right now.

This would be really frustrating for the Forest fans because there is no doubt that the Portuguese manager has done a tremendous job, and he is a fan favourite already. A sack means the team has to go through a new start once again, which can be quite risky. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Santo getting sat probably will not be a very good thing for Forest.
