The Reds were ready to offer a bid of £35 million if Crystal Palace were willing to sell him during the transfer window, or they would wait until the next summer transfer window and get him for free. The defending FA Cup Champions were also looking forward to signing a replacement for their captain since he had already made it clear that he was leaving.

However, recent reports from Mark Goldridge of That's Football claimed that Liverpool are not moving for Marc Guehi in the winter anymore and they will try to get him for free next season. But this time it is going to be quite difficult for them since major teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City are reported to be interested in signing him for free next season.
