A win by three goals put Manchester City back into contention, brushing past Crystal Palace without much trouble under the lights at their home ground. Two points now separate them from Arsenal at the top, with only a pair of games remaining to decide who lifts the trophy. The outcome came midweek, shifting pressure ahead of the final stretch.
Even after resting key names before the weekend's FA Cup clash with Chelsea, Guardiola's team controlled every moment. A strike by Semenyo opened it, followed by Marmoush slipping one past, then Savinho adding another late. The win pushes Manchester City to 77 points; Arsenal still leads, two clear at 79.
Phil Foden leads the charge as Manchester City dominate Crystal Palace
Bursting through in the 32nd minute, Manchester City opened the scoring when Phil Foden flicked a clever backheel to set Semenyo free; he slid the ball coolly into the far side. Just past the midway, a loose touch by Foden off a cross landed at Marmoush’s feet. Twisting fast, he buried it with precision to stretch the lead.

A goal came near the end of the match when Savinho connected with a precise pass from Rayan Cherki, then slotted it home up close. The finish followed a well-timed run into space behind the defence.
“It’s a massive game, a must-win game, so we are really happy,” Foden said after the match.
“The aim is to keep pushing and keep Arsenal on their toes. A lot can still happen on the final day. I’ve experienced situations before where things don’t go your way, so we just have to keep doing our part,” he added.
Most of the match saw City holding onto the ball, keeping it 72 per cent of the time while setting a calm pace. Just shy of halftime, Gvardiol had a chance to extend their lead - yet Henderson, standing tall in Palace’s net, blocked it sharply.
Not quite at their best, Crystal Palace fell short according to boss Oliver Glasner. His team lagged throughout the match, he said. A step slower, perhaps. Outplayed, even. He saw it clearly; his players didn’t match the energy needed. Tough to watch, maybe. Still, honest words came: they were simply second-rate on this occasion.
“Today City were much better than we were. If you want to get a result here at the Etihad, you need a top performance, and we couldn’t deliver that today,” Glasner said.
