Liverpool encountered Everton at Anfield in gameweek 5, and the defending Premier League Champions were victorious in the Merseyside Derby. It was a narrow 2-1 victory over their local rivals as Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike scored the goals for their side; however, they failed to keep the clean sheet.

The Reds managed to win 4 games out of their five Premier League fixtures by a narrow 1-0 margin, and in the second half, it was a very difficult game for the home side. Everton had been the more dominant side in the second half, and they even scored a goal which came from Idrissa Gueye's feet. Alexis Mac Allister's mistake cost them this goal.

Liverpool have maintained a 100% win record in the Premier League so far

Liverpool Football Club may have been maintaining a 100% win record so far, but all six games, including one UEFA Champions League fixture, had been really difficult wins for them. Apart from the Everton game, The Reds won all of their game by scoring late goals, which may look exciting but definitely not a good look for the side.

Liverpool defeated Everton in gameweek 5 of Premier League 2025-26 campaign

Much like all of their fixtures, Everton had been a difficult game for them too, and some of their players, like Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo, have not been in the form so far in this season. Among the new signings, Florian Wirtz has been quite poor so far. Alexander Isak has not been tested much yet.

Hugo Ekitike scored his third goal in the Premier League for his side against Everton

Even on their UEFA Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid, they won the game with a late winner scored by their skipper Virgil Van Dijk. Everton was the first opponent of Liverpool this season, which did not require a late goal to win. Hopefully, it becomes their turning point.

But as long as they are winning all of their games, there should not be any kind of criticism about them. They are overall playing excellently as a team, which is bringing results, and after the fifth game week of the Premier League 2025-26 campaign, they have managed to keep their 100% win record.
