Ibrahima Konate had been a star defender for Liverpool until last season, and Real Madrid had been an admirer of the French International as they looked quite desperate to sign him on a free transfer next season. Another star defender of Liverpool, Trent Alexander Arnold joined Real Madrid on a free transfer last season, and it was looking like Konate would be following him in the same way.

Liverpool had been extremely successful until last season, and they even managed to win the Premier League campaign of 2025-26 with Ibrahima Konate being one of the biggest contributors. The defending Premier League Champions were trying really hard to extend his contract, but it looked like he was desperate to follow Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Real Madrid does not want to sign Ibrahima Konate anymore

This season, Liverpool have been quite disappointing so far as they have registered back to back defeats in all competitions, and their performance has been really lackluster. Konate, the man who had been one of the best players of Liverpool until last season, had also been quite poor; in fact, he had been one of the worst players of Liverpool this season so far.

Ibrahima Konate had been under contract with Liverpool since 2021

Multiple sources have been reporting recently that Real Madrid Football Club are not interested in the French International anymore, especially after the poor performance he has shown this season for Liverpool so far. Presently, there is no report that any major team is interested in signing him.

Liverpool are also interested in signing Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace

Recent reports from The Times suggest that Liverpool are once again renewing their interest in extending the contract of their French International Defender. The 26 year old is presently on a £80,000 wage per week, and the mentioned source suggests that Liverpool are willing to offer him a wage of £200k per week.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in signing the English International Marc Guehi. He is also going out of contract next season, and Liverpool wanted to sign him for free. But with their performance continuing, the Reds are potentially considering signing him in January. It would be a huge boost for Liverpool if they keep Ibrahima Konate and also get to sign Marc Guehi.
