They were even linked with Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove Albion. But after Brighton slapped a £100 million price tag on the Cameroonian international, Manchester United minimised their interest.

It is reported that the Red Devils will return for Carlos Baleba next season. But they could not sign a new player to fix their midfield this transfer window. Morten Hjulmand of Sporting CP was linked to be the alternative to Baleba, but that never happened. Ultimately, they fail to land any midfielder in the summer transfer window, but they are reportedly looking forward to signing at least one midfielder in the winter.

Recent reports from Football Transfers suggest that Ruben Amorim is looking forward to signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid to fix their midfield issues in the winter. The former Chelsea midfielder joined the Spanish Club last season and he had been quite successful in his first season for the former Spanish League champions.
Conor Gallagher is also an English International, which could also be a big boost for the Manchester United midfield. Apart from Conor Gallagher, Manchester United is also reportedly interested in signing Romeo Lavia of Chelsea. Moreover, it looks pretty much certain that the Red Devils will definitely sign at least one midfielder in the winter.
