Chelsea had been quite active in this transfer window as they signed multiple top names, including Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, and many other top names. They have also offloaded multiple big names from their squad, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, and many other names.

There was another name that they were desperately trying to offload was Raheem Sterling. They bought the former English International back in 2022 from Manchester City for a reported fee of £47.5 million. But standing has never been the top star for the Blues despite his amazing past record.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling remains at Chelsea at the end of the transfer window

Last season, he was sent to Arsenal on loan, where he had been absolutely awful, as he could manage only one goal in 28 appearances. Arsenal had a buy-out clause at the end of this loan spell, but they decided not to sign him permanently after the failed season. As a result, Raheem Sterling returned to Chelsea at the end of the loan spell at Arsenal.

Fulham tried to sign Sterling this window but failed

But Chelsea remained quite desperate to offload him in this transfer window, along with all the names that departed. A number of clubs were interested in the 30 year old, including Fulham, who looked to be really interested in signing him. But ultimately, the deal did not happen, and Sterling remained at Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling remains the highest paid star at Chelsea

Despite being one of the biggest players in England at one point, Raheem Sterling has become a huge burden for Chelsea Football Club. He had been terribly out of form for the last couple of years, and the biggest issue stands as his wage, which is £300,000. He is presently the highest paid player of Chelsea.

So the irony is, the highest paid player of Chelsea will not even get regular play time. It has not been cleared yet why Chelsea failed to offload Raheem Sterling by the end of this transfer window, and why Fulham decided not to buy him. But it can be expected that the English club will return for him in the January transfer window again, as Chelsea will definitely try to sell him.
