Arsenal are currently sitting at the top of the English Premier League points table with 70 points in 31 matches. Their nearest rivals Manchester City are in second place with 61 points and have an extra game in their pocket. With just seven games remaining, the Gunners are the clear favourites to lift the Premier League trophy under head coach Mikel Arteta for the first time in over two decades.

The last time Arsenal won the league was back in 2003-04, when the legendary manager Arsene Wenger and his team produced a memorable campaign. The Gunners went undefeated in the league to win it all and were named "Invincibles." In the last three seasons, Arsenal have finished second in the league and now would like to win it all after a 22-year-long wait.

Arsenal have won the Premier League only three times in history. However, before the brand change, the Gunners won the First Division or top-flight league, 10 times in the past. Besides that, Arsenal is also the most successful club in FA Cup history, winning the tournament a record 14 times.

Mikel Arteta was appointed manager in 2019 and since then, Arsenal have won the FA Cup and FA Community Shield twice. A former Gunner player himself, Arteta would like to bring the league title back to his club in the next two months.

Arsenal lead race for UEFA Champions League spots

As the EPL 2025-26 season heads into the closing stages, several teams are challenging for the UEFA Champions League spots for next year. With Arsenal firmly at the top of the league, teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Brentford are looking to grab the Champions League spots.

Second-place Manchester City will most likely secure their place in next year's UCL season, having a 10-point lead over the fourth-placed side. But the teams below them are tangled in a close battle, and there is not much of a point difference between all the teams.

Manchester United are third in the league with 54 points, only three points separating them from fourth-place Aston Villa. Aston Villa are in good form under manager Unai Emery, who looks to lead the club back to Champions League glory. The club won their last Champions League trophy in 1982, when the competition was known as the European Cup.

Fifth-place Liverpool currently has 49 points on the board, just one point clear of Chelsea, who are sixth in the table. Neither team is in good form this season but would most likely push till the end of the season to secure a UCL berth.

Brentford are currently sitting in the seventh position with 45 points in 30 matches. The club has never qualified for the Champions League. They could create history this season by taking the final fifth spot if the teams above them slip down the table. Their best position in the league has been ninth, which they secured back in the 2022-23 season.

In the Champions League, five Premier League teams could take part next season. Under the UEFA coefficient rankings, the Premier League is at the top, which means that the team finishing fifth in the league will also qualify for the Champions League, via playoffs, next season.
