NEW DELHI: There's no stopping Yashasvi Jaiswal. The young left-handed opener continued his remarkable run in Test cricket by scoring yet another century on the opening day of the second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday.
Jaiswal brought up his century off 145 balls in his 26th Test, but the real highlight was that it marked his 7th Test hundred before turning 24 - a feat bettered by only three batters in history. The legendary Don Bradman (12), Sachin Tendulkar (11), and Garfield Sobers (9) are the only ones to have scored more centuries at that age.

Javed Miandad, Graeme Smith, Alastiar Cook, and Kane Williamson also had seven centuries each before turning 24.
Since Jaiswal's debut in Test cricket in July 2023 against West Indies, other Indian openers have combined to score six Test hundreds, whereas Jaiswal alone has made seven.
Among all teams, the next best tally by an opener in the same period is four centuries by Ben Duckett.

Earlier in the innings, the 23-year-old reached another milestone, completing 3,000 international runs in just 50 matches. He became only the fourth Indian left-handed opener to achieve this feat, joining Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, and Shikhar Dhawan.
Jaiswal, who was cautious and aggressive in equal measure during the first session, showed his aggressive streak after lunch as he played some eye-catching strokes.
