NEW DELHI: Yashasvi Jaiswal has established himself as a mainstay of India's Test batting lineup in a very short span, but the opening batter has struggled to replicate the same presence in white-ball cricket. However, this is not due to his performance; rather, team combination requirements have often kept the southpaw out of the squad.
Despite scoring his maiden ODI century against South Africa recently, Jaiswal's place in the playing XI for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand is still not guaranteed. He could be forced to make way for regular ODI captain Shubman Gill, highlighting the selection dilemma facing the team management.
Speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar, Jaiswal reflected on his century and highlighted the role Virat Kohli played in the innings. The young opener revealed that Kohli offered crucial inputs during the chase, which helped him stay composed and build his knock.
Jaiswal also shared a lighter moment from the game, revealing Kohli's playful side, as the former India captain kept teasing him by humming songs from movie 'Tere Naam' while they were batting together.
Jaiswal recently sported a new hairstyle that closely resembled Salman Khan's iconic look from Tere Naam, and it didn't take long to catch Kohli's eye.
"There is a song called 'Lagan Lag Gayi Re'. So Kohli was singing that song to me and dancing. That was a fun conversation. Even before I went to bat, he was telling me things. His sense of humour is great, and he is very funny. But when he is serious, the entire world knows the level of intensity with which he plays. I really enjoy playing with him," he said on sports journalist Vimal Kumar's YouTube channel.
