Yashasvi Jaiswal just does not seem to slow down. Anyhow, a beast at such a young age, in the longest format of the game, Jaiswal seems to channel into a higher power. If and when he gets going, it seems almost impossible to stop him. Against the West Indies in the second match of the 2-Test bilateral series, Yashasvi Jaiswal raced to first, his 7th Test ton, and then crossed the 150-run mark before ending the first day of the Test on 173 not out.
This is the second instance of Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 150+ runs on the opening day of a Test in India, after 179 against England in Vizag in 2024. The only other player to do so multiple times on the first day on Indian soil was Virat Kohli, who also achieved this feat on the same two venues (151 vs. Eng in Vizag in 2016 & 156 vs. SL in Delhi in 2017).
Such has been his form in Test Cricket that today he has been making milestones left, right and centre. His innings of 150+ today against the Caribbean side meant that Jaiswal equalled Brian Lara, who till now held the record of 5 scores of 150+ in the first 7 centuries. Now it's a shared record.

After a relatively slow start to his innings, the Indian opener upped the ante in the 2nd session, going run-a-ball at one point. He brought up his century in 145 balls before carrying on with as much vigour. At just 23, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed 3000 runs in his International career today against the West Indies.

Jaiswal's 150 means that he overtook Indian legends like Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir on the list of most 150+ scores for India in Test cricket. With still a long way to go, Yashasvi Jaiswal has a long time to reach the top of this list. And if we only consider the openers, he sits at number 3, only behind Sehwag and Gavaskar.
